August 2019 UK & West Midlands Property Market News

The property market in the south and east of England has caused a slowdown for the whole of the UK property market, and in August 2019 the trend continues. However, it’s important to understand that prices continue to rise, and the rate of growth increased to 1.3% (from 0.8%) over the calendar month.
In fact, house prices peaked in August 2019. The previous peak was in the same month in 2018, with that peak being surpassed just last month. has shown a slowdown in annual growth, but make no mistake – prices are still rising, which is great news for every local estate agent. The average property price across the UK increased 1.4% in the year to April 2019, compared to a rise of 1.6% in March.
As in previous months, house prices remained highest in England with strong growth in the north and the East and West Midlands. This is great news for estate agents in Birmingham with growth of 2.5% in that region alone. Over the previous 12 months, prices in London and the South East have decreased by 1.4% and 0.6% respectively, making the other areas particularly strong performers.
